this sunday. i m fredricka whitfield. the coronavirus variant strain first identified in u.k. is now spreading through the united states. the cdc is urging the government to take action to avoid another surge in the next six months. at least 16 variants have been confirmed in 33 states. dr. a doctor from atlanta is here to tell us. should we be worried? the variants is doubling every day, and it will become the dominant strain by march 3rd, probably. it really looks at the need to double down on precautions. this is much more serious in a rapid spread. cases are coming down, hospitalizations are coming down in our country. it could turn around very rapidly as a result of this strain. and just yesterday, saturday, marked the eighth straight day where less than 105,000 hospitalizations were reported. is there a bigger worry here? cases are coming down, but it reminds us we had 80,000 hospitalizations, so we re still at a very high rate, i just want to see cases come d
