In order to safely reach as many parishioners as possible during the country’s first COVID-19 Christmas season, some local churches are adding services and offering alternate ways for the faithful to view the pageantry.
In Norwich, the Cathedral of St. Patrick on Broadway is expanding its number of Christmas Eve services, Diocese of Norwich Director of Communications Wayne Gignac said.
“Normally on Christmas Eve, we’d have a 4 p.m. and Midnight Mass,” he said. “This year, we’ve added 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Masses that day. In addition, we’ll be live-streaming the Midnight Mass, starting with the 11:30 p.m. caroling, and it will also be broadcast on local radio stations.”
