Itâs not likely North Bay council will get its wish to have passenger rail service restored here before the next provincial election, scheduled to take place by June 2, 2022.
âWe donât want to come up short to meet a deadline,â Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli said Friday in response to a motion from council earlier this week. âWe are never going to take shortcuts.â

Council unanimously passed a motion Tuesday asking Premier Doug Ford and Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney to fulfil their 2018 election pledge to restore the Northlander. The Toronto-to-Cochrane train was cancelled by the Liberal government in 2012.
