Nissan EV Production: Japanese auto giant Nissan said Monday it will slash production costs for next-generation electric vehicles by 30 percent as it competes with fast-growing Chinese rivals. Nissan also said it would reduce the cost of next-generation EVs by 30 percent by "integrating powertrains, utilising next-generation modular manufacturing, group sourcing, and battery innovations".

Nissan said its plans for electric versions of the Qashqai and Juke, produced in Sunderland, northeast England, would require a total investment of up to 2 billion pounds, including a third battery plant in Britain and infrastructure projects that partners would help to finance.
Nissan's Juke and Qashqai will soon receive electric versions. Nissan reportedly plans to commit hundreds of millions of pounds to a project to produce electric versions of its Juke and Qashqai, two of the company's best-selling crossovers, manufactured in its UK Sunderland Factory.
A wide variety of vehicles from a sleek crossover sport-utility and an upscale autonomous minivan to a mini recreational car, all powered by batteries, will be among the eye-popping concepts at the Tokyo auto show next week when a record 475 companies participate in the event.
