Following the cancellation of a no objection certificate (NOC) by the Bombay High Court (HC), the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has ordered the freezing of the bank account of Parekh Constructions LLP.
The Bombay high court (HC) cancelled a no objection certificate (NOC) of Parekh Constructions LLP for defaulting on the payment of transit rent to residents of the demolished building, which the builder is redeveloping. The HC has also directed Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) to issue a formal letter for NOC cancellation without giving the developers any hearing opportunity.
Parekh Constructions, Parekh Constructions LLP and Nishcon Realty have to clear out from the project site in Chira Bazar area before Independence Day, the HC directed Friday. Mhada can appoint another builder, it added.

“We will not sit by and allow residents of this city to be treated as a necessary evil, an irritant or a nuisance in developers’ pursuit of profits or their worship of Mammon,’’ said the HC bench of Justices Gautam Patel and Neela Gokhale in a case involving rights of tenants.
