Two athletes from Ohio to compete in rowing at 2024 Paris Olympics

Two Ohio natives are set to represent the United States in women's rowing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.US Rowing announced the first 21 athletes that will be representing the country at the Olympic Games this summer.Among the athletes are Ohio natives Molly Bruggeman, from Dayton, and Nina Castagna, from Cincinnati.Bruggeman was born and raised in Dayton before going to the University of Notre Dame and then landing a job as a rowing coach at the University of Minnesota.Bruggeman, who will be competing in the women's four, is one of six Olympic veterans making up the team.Castagna is from Cincinnati and will participate in the women's eight. The Walnut Hills graduate started rowing her freshman year in high school before heading to the University of Washington.

May 27, 2021 SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Conference announced today the Pac-12 men’s and women’s rowing postseason honors and All-Conference teams for the 2021 season, as voted upon by the Conference coaches. WASHINGTON’s Ella Cossill was named Pac-12 Women’s Rowing Athlete of the Year, while STANFORD’s Mathilda Kitzmann took home Pac-12 Women’s Rowing Newcomer of the Year honors. UCLA head coach Amy Fuller Kearney and WASHINGTON head coach Yasmin Farooq earned co-Pac-12 Women’s Rowing Coach of the Year accolades.
