That they made time to hold their 17th meeting is good news. They advanced the agenda, which had been arrested by the pandemic, since the last ministerial meeting held in August 2018. Their major task was to pave the way for the next summit, the grouping’s fifth, due to be held in Sri Lanka in the “next few months”.

Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Momen took part in the Special Session of the BIMSTEC Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) Dhaka, Apr 1(UNI) Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen took part in the Special Session of the BIMSTEC Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) virtually held on Thursday in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He led a four member Bangladesh delegation composed of Additional Foreign Secretary Md Shamsul Haque (SAARC & BIMSTEC) and other officers. The Foreign Secretaries and Senior Officials of all the seven BIMSTEC Member States joined the meeting. Bangladesh facilitated and supported the endorsement of a series of vital documents at the Special Session of the BIMSTEC Senior Official’s Meeting chaired by Admiral Prof Jayanath Colombage, Foreign Secretary of Sri Lanka.
