In its Covid-19 bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said the new cases brought the active case tally to 39,974 out of a total of 2,871,745 confirmed infections since the start of the pandemic. Wednesday's fresh cases are almost double from Tuesday's 5,434 new cases. The DOH also reported 605 new recoveries, raising the tally to 2,780,109 or 96.8 percent of the total case count. Out of the active cases, 33,866 are mild, 3,020 are moderate, 1,294 are asymptomatic, 319 are critical, and 1,512 are severe. Recoveries are now at 2,779,241 or 97.3 percent of the total 2,855,819 infections since the pandemic began in March 2020. Active cases rose to 24,992, of which 19,552 are mild, 3,051 are moderate, 795 are asymptomatic, 331 are critical, and 1,563 are severe.
