Mountain Vista The Governing Board of Mountain Vista Governor s School has announced Kelly A. Huff has been named regional director. Huff succeeds Roseanne Williamson, who will retire as director on Jan. 1. Mountain Vista is a governor s school for math, science and technology that serves over 200 gifted and talented high school students from the school divisions of Clark, Culpeper, Frederick, Fauquier, Winchester City, Rappahannock and Warren. As regional director, Huff will serve as the principal and primary administrator and will oversee day-to-day operations, curriculum development, and faculty and staff relations. A 19-year veteran of the public education system, Huff taught English for 13 years and served as assistant principal for four years, all at Alleghany High School in Covington. She was promoted to director of secondary instruction for Alleghany County Public Schools and served in this role for two years.

Three Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative lineworkers were among a group of 15 to receive official commendation from the Virginia General Assembly for traveling 4,000 miles to bring power to five small villages in Bolivia. At a Dec. 8 ceremony, Del. Margaret Ransone presented a resolution praising the work of United We Light: Project Bolivia to Craig Loving, a lineworker at Northern Neck Electric Cooperative.
