Man's jaw broken in one-punch assault in party precinct

Senior Sergeant Blain said the incident was reported to police days later, on March 1, and investigations lead to the 19-year-old s arrest on March 2. Sen-Sergeant Blain said it would be alleged the incident was a one-punch assault resulting in serious injuries, and followed the launch of the Assault Free Zone campaign targeting anti-social and alcohol-fuelled violence in the district. The incident was recorded on City Safe cameras, which helped in the investigation. He said Whitsunday police would continue cracking down on violent behaviour in the Airlie Beach district. The 19-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on April 12.

Driver swerving across road almost five times legal limit

Premium Content Subscriber only A Cannonvale man was so far over the legal alcohol limit he was unable to control his car on a busy Airlie Beach road, it will be alleged. Police intercepted the 33-year-old man on Shute Harbour Rd about 11.40pm on February 26 after he was allegedly swerving in and out of the white lines, Whitsunday police officer-in-charge Nathan Blain said. The man allegedly blew 0.227 per cent and his licence was immediately suspended. The man is scheduled to appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court March 15, charged with on driving under the influence. Senior Sergeant Blain said police were ramping up patrols targeting drink and drug driving across the district, and followed a number of drivers being charged since last week.

Woman charged after allegedly crushing man between cars

She is scheduled to appear at Proserpine Magistrates Court on March 22. Sen-Sgt Blain said it was lucky no one was killed in the crash. It just goes to show drinking and inattention can cause serious crashes, he said. Police say a driver was over the legal limit when she allegedly crashed her car and crushed a man between two vehicles. Photo: File More from Whitsunday Police: Sen-Sgt Blain said police were called to a separate incident about 9.20pm on Valentine s Day, which allegedly resulted in three police officers being assaulted. Police responded to reports a West Australian man was behaving erratically at The Cove Rd in Airlie Beach.
