8:00, let s get started. i am francine kiefer, congressional correspondent for the christian science monitor filling in for linda feldman who is traveling with donald trump. our guest today is representative steve stivers, chair of the republican national committee and this is his first appearance at a monitor breakfast. now for a little bit of background. steve stivers was born in cincinnati and earned his bachelors degree and mba from ohio state university. since 1985 he has served in the ohio army national guard and holds the rank of brigadier general. in 2002 congressman steve stivers was elected to the ohio senate and in 2004 he was called for active duty in operation iraqi freedom serving in a rack, kuwait, and djibouti. he received a bronze star for his service as a battalion commander. steve stivers is also any girl scout. he has been a member of the house since 2011 and in 2017, he took on the task of trying to preserve his party s house majority as chair of the an
