Burlington students to return to hybrid model Monday

After more than a month of remote learning, Burlington students will return to their classrooms next week under a hybrid model.
The Burlington School Board on Friday voted 5-1 to rescind its Dec. 4 decision to keep students online for another two weeks in favor of resuming a hybrid model Monday, though students may continue to learn online if they choose.
The decision came just more than a month after the board initially voted to transition to an online model amid a staff shortage spurred by seasonal illnesses and COVID-19. As the virus spread increased rapidly through the month of November, the board voted twice since then to seek the state s permission to continue operating under the remote model, but the most recent extension will be cut short.
