The Board of Education on Dec. 10 unanimously approved updated terms and conditions for on-campus police “for the purpose of maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff and community members,” according to a Memorandum of Understanding with the city. Just hours before the vote, dozens of parents and youth with the San Jose Unified Equity Coalition and allied organizations rallied outside the district building to demand the district end the practice of having police on campus.
