well, no doubt. i think warren won and didn t have to take on any water to do it. harris needed to do i think to break out and to show herself. there is, you know, a history of people, the attacker who takes down the frontrunner is never the one who actually really benefits from the attack historically. but you got to do what you got to do. so i think they each won their night. i want to come back to this later in the hour. but i do think a lot of the 1%ers. among people that don t normally act desperate. there were some candidates at the bottom tier who had some impressive moments. we re not seeing that in the poll. and you can t say it s a name recognition issue anymore. that s the issue. there has to be a point where the bookers and gillibrands realize that despite their best effort, they haven t caught fire
and biden s lead in the polls show his lead shrinking among democrats. and you look at some of the others now. you have senators kamala harris and elizabeth warren gaining traction in some of the polls. their numbers are going up. in some polls passing bernie sanders. is sanders doing something wrong or are warren and harris doing something right? well, i think what s happening is you re just seeing people start to get to know some of these candidates. obviously, senator sanders was throughout last time. some people do know him. some of these other candidates, senator warren, senator harris. people are getting to know them. watching debates. seeing them out there. that s part of it is just them getting to know them and they are getting a lot of headlines and a lot of traction. obviously, senator harris had the big headlines from the debates last week. part of it is just a name recognition issue. i want to turn to congressman justin amash who told jake tapper this about nancy pelo
A lot of money is committed. a lot of the staff is committed. it is an uphill battle. i think even for the vice president, i think he knows that very well. and you know, i think hillary clinton has a tremendous base of support. there s a reason why the republican party has for years tried to focus on and attack and tear down hillary clinton. because they know she will pull strength from republican women and republican moderates across the board. she s pragmatic. she s progressive. she knows how to get things done. i think the vice president has to do what he believes in his heart is the right thing to do. he ll have a really tough fight. let me jump back to a word you said a second ago, late. you jumped in late in september. it s october. he has yet to declare again. perhaps in the next couple of days. how much of this moving forward, we all know, he s the vice president of our country. we all know who joe biden is. it s not a name recognition
You know who is missing? the president of the united states and he needs to lead, he needs to lead this country and he won t do it because he lacks the courage. i will have the courage to do it and we ll lead and we ve got to get this thing fixed. country is sinking in debt. move on to a gallup poll that recently came out that showed mitt romney and sarah palin. we re ahead of the game right now. 17% and 15%. yourself at 6%. why is that? is this a name recognition issue he remember in the race? early on, these polls are name i.d. half the republicans in the country don t know who i am. so to put me in a poll where half the respondents don t know my name, you re not going to immediately change that. when they get to see my record in minnesota, reducing spending and cutting taxes, doing market based, not government based health care reform and more, those numbers will change and we ve got good momentum already in iowa in the early states. when you talk about the early states, these
