The forgotten roads between East London and its surrounding towns and coastal villages have deteriorated into hazardous daily commutes for residents, whose attempts to patch up their disintegrating routes is a never-ending nightmare. Buffalo Pass was the symbolic launching pad of the national pothole repair operation Vala Zonke.
Edging to the side of the road to avoid one of numerous potholes along the MR500 road to Kaysers Beach early on Monday, a Queen Bee Honeysucker sewage truck slipped into the culvert and overturned. An eyewitness said the black-and-white striped vehicle contained two occupants, one of whom was slightly hurt.
Residents in the coastal village of Kayser’s Beach should experience lower tyre and car repair bills as Buffalo City Metro teams work to fix the potholed road between their home and the R72.
