Order to buy equities and when the prices started falling, many had to liquidate their holding so you had this sharp decline, but i think basically it s a correction. to give a sense of how extraordinary overbought the chinese markets are, stocks in this country generally traded at about 16 pe ratio, price to earnings, and in china on the markets before this fall, they were trading at 7, 70 p perks. and they re still trading at 40, ian after this massive correction. by our standards, we would expect further price corrections in the weeks ahead. now, the chinese government has routinely intervened in the markets to try to keep stock prices up, and they try to do it again this week, but it didn t seem to work as well, why not? well, i think they were intervening a lot less. when the markets fell dramatically at the first part of the week, monday through wednesday, probably government intervention was off quite a bit and that led to a very additional sharp decline.
