Emine Bouroutzi: The Pomaks and Romas of Greece face cultural genocide from Turkey Search for: The Pomaks (Slavic-speaking Muslims) of Western Thrace expressed strong reactions to the attempts by Turkey to instrumentalise them against Greece. “There are no Turkish villages in Greece, we are Greeks who fought for our country and we want to stay out of Turkey’s political games,” a Pomak community leader told Ta Nea following Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu’s visit to Greece on Sunday and Monday.
