Mount Carmel Large Item Pickup Announced

The City of Mount Carmel has announced its Big Trash Pickup Day for the spring. It will take place during the week of April 3 thru 7. Mayor Judge says that the trash crew will only be picking up large items one time this spring. City officials say that if you are tossing out mattresses and box springs, they must be wrapped in plastic. Construction materials, electronics, televisions, microwaves, refrigerators, and stoves will not be picked up. For more information, contact Mount Carmel City Hall at 618-262-4822.

City of Mount Carmel Looking for Summer Employees

The City of Mt. Carmel is seeking lifeguards, concessions workers, cleaning staff, and pool managers for the 2023 swim season. City officials are offering a flexible schedule and are offering to pay 100% of the lifeguard certification process. To apply, officials say to fill out an application at Mount Carmel City Hall, located at 631 Market Street.

Wayne County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for the person or persons who stole a black 2 week old angus calf from Christopher Gill. The calf was taken from property he rents. Call or text crime stoppers at 842-9777. An Indiana woman has pleaded guilty to staging her own kidnapping. Gibson County Judge this week ordered 24-year-old Hannah Potts to complete 120 hours of community service after she pleaded guilty to false informing. Judge Jeffrey F. Meade also sentenced Potts to 360 days in jail, but that was suspended to probation. Joshua Thomas, 45, and Maria Hopper, 35, also previously pleaded guilty and received probation. An Illinois Manufacturers Association initiative to create advanced training academies has come to fruition after two years.
