Gagne Takes Runner-Up Finish in Superbike Race 2 at COTA Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha Racing’s Jake Gagne returned to the podium with a strong runner-up finish in MotoAmerica Superbike Race 2 at the Circuit of The Americas MARIETTA, Ga. – Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha Racing’s Jake Gagne took home a runner-up finish in today’s restarted MotoAmerica Superbike Race 2 at the Circuit of The Americas. Unfortunately, JD Beach’s second race of the weekend as a fill-in rider ended early with a crash. On the heels of his 10th win of the season in yesterday’s Race 1 at the Grand Prix track in Austin, Texas, Gagne got another great start in the runner-up spot. The race was red-flagged, calling for a complete restart and a shortened 10-lap race. Once again, the three-time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion slotted into second and was battling up front. He kept the leader in sight but ultimately rode his own race in the greasy track

It was a strong start to the season for the reigning back-to-back MotoAmerica Superbike Champion, whose second and first-place finish at the opening round has him tied for the points lead. Unfortunately, his teammate Cameron Petersen had a technical issue early in the restarted race and did not finish. Once again, Gagne grabbed the holeshot, but he would have to make another attempt at a perfect start from pole position as the race was red-flagged on the second lap. From a press release issued By Yamaha Racing: Gagne Storms to Victory for Road America Sweep      Fresh N’ Lean Attack Performance Yamaha Racing’s Jake Gagne continues to dominate, breaking another track record en route to victory in today’s MotoAmerica Superbike Race 2 at Road America. Teammate Josh Herrin overcame adversity to score his second top-five finish this weekend in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Once again, Gagne grabbed the holeshot from pole position, but this time around, the competition was hot on his heels and made the pass in Turn 5. The 28-year-old quickly reclaimed the lead and then upped the ante by breaking Cameron Beaubier’s track record in a Superbike race, an impressive 2:10.998. From there, Gagne put in some consistently fast times to win his fifth consecutive race by a 6.7-second margin, expanding his lead in the championship to 18 points
