KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) â A Kalamazoo County Sheriffâs Deputy will not face any charges after being cleared in a fatal December shooting, according to County Prosecutor Jeff Getting.
Shortly before 7 a.m. on December 18, police were called to a residential home on Morningstar Way in Kalamazoo, and Deputy Michael Leeger was the first to respond.
The call came in to dispatchers about a suicidal person armed with a knife. The report says that call came from his mother and her partner, who were also stabbed with a kitchen knife. ....

OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, MI Police are investigating at the scene where a man allegedly stabbed his parents and was later shot by police while holding a knife, leading to his death.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched at 7:06 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, to a residence on the 6600 block of Morningstar Way in Oshtemo Township for a report of a “suicidal” subject with a knife, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
“When deputies arrived, the suspect engaged deputies and shots were fired,” the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said in a brief news release issued Friday. “There were victims at the scene that had been stabbed.” ....

OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Police say a man was shot dead by a Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputy after stabbing his parents inside their home near Kalamazoo, and then attacking the deputy.
The incident started just after 7:00 a.m. Friday at a home at Chippendale Drive and Morningstar Way in Oshtemo Township.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriffâs Office says a call came in to dispatchers about a suicidal person armed with a knife. Michigan State Police say that 911 call came from the parents who were stabbed with a kitchen knife. ....
