Stacey Chaisson, one of Terrebonne s three public-school Teachers of the Year, has a common bond with teachers almost everywhere these days: persevering through a pandemic.
Despite the challenge, Chaisson said weathering the changes and uncertainty together has drawn students, parents and teachers closer.
“Just seeing students in a school setting, even with masks on, gave us a sense of normalcy,” the Mulberry Elementary teacher said. “I love working with them. I know my place is in the classroom and to be a part where students are learning.”
Earlier this month, the School Board recognized Chaisson, Sydney Fitch of Montegut Middle and Katelyn DeLaune of Terrebonne High as Teachers of the Year at their respective grade levels.
