San Marcos boys volleyball coach Roger Kuntz pointed out that his team is at the same stage it was last season when the COVID-19 pandemic forced all sports activity to shut down.
“This year we’ve started out at 2-0,” he said at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon at The Creekside Restaurant. “Last year we started out 2-0, and that’s how we ended because that’s all we got.”
Perdices liked how the boys team worked off each other.
“Drew and Xan put in some big pulls on the first and second loops to drop the DP guys from their pack before Blaise stretched it out later in the race,” she said.
The times were slower than the previous two meets because runners had to deal with a muddy course. The course was pretty sloppy from the rain and hail earlier in the week, so the times don t necessarily show it. But these guys have learned a lot and made some big tactical improvements over the three meets they ve run,” said Perdices.
