ISLAMABAD: As the report on water distribution, which had to be released in one month, has been pending with the Attorney General Office for the last one year, the National Assembly Standing Committee on Water Resources on Monday requested Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Council of Common Interests (CCI) to intervene in the matter and get the report released.
A meeting of the committee, held at the Ministry of Water Resources, was presided over by Pakistan Peoples Party lawmaker Nawab Muhammad Yousuf Talpur and attended by MNAs Ali Nawaz Awan, Chaudhry Shoukat Ali Bhatti, Muhammad Farooq Azam Malik, Naureen Farooq Ibrahim, Nuzhat Pathan, Chaudhry Muhammad Hamid Hameed (through video link), Riaz-ul-Haq, Ehsan-ur-Rehman Mazari and Afreen Khan. Covid-19 death toll crosses 15,000 mark - Newspaper

ISLAMABAD: While around 20 per cent decline was observed in the number of Covid-19 cases, over 100 deaths were reported for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, taking the overall tally to 15,000 mortalities.
Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari, daughter of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and ex-president Asif Ali Zardari, has been infected with coronavirus.
According to data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 4,004 cases and 102 deaths were reported in a single day. Out of the 102 deaths, 95 passed away in hospitals. As many as 4,529 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, of which 443 were on ventilators. ....

LG system in Islamabad produced parliamentarians from grassroots level - Pakistan


ISLAMABAD: The local government system in Islamabad created in 2015-16 had a minimal service delivery for the benefit of the citizens during its five-year tenure ending on Sunday. However, it brought out a number of grassroots level politicians who are now making a mark in parliamentary politics.
The first ever local government elections were held in November 2015 and subsequently Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) was created on Feb 14, 2016.
The MCI failed to deliver and remained neglected by both PML-N and PTI governments. Coupled with bureaucratic hurdles, the local government also remained without its rules of business.
Similarly, both the governments did not provide any financial package to MCI to launch development schemes at the union council level. ....
