New teachers in South Dakota can expect a base pay of at least $45,000 as they begin their careers. Today, Governor Kristi Noem signed a bill into law officially requiring a certain base pay for teachers' salaries.

Among the cases heard was a Letcher woman who failed to appear in court for charges stemming from her allegedly breaking into a Mitchell home and drinking a beer inside the residence.
Born in Tijuana, Mexico, Diony navigated English when her family moved to Huron for her dad’s career. Huron’s population is diverse and Diony was surrounded by classmates with brown faces like hers.
