In a bid to reduce road deaths, taking a call with a phone to your ear while driving will be illegal in Michigan beginning next month, after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed a bill aimed to combat distracted driving into law Wednesday.
Michigan is the 26th state with a hands-free cellphone driving law after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed legislation on Wednesday.
The law updates a 2010 ban on texting while driving to include other uses of mobile devices.
