Council accepted a report recommending awarding six roads to be reconstructed with double surface treatment and fog seal by the company in the amount of $671,723 plus HST. The six roads include South Branch Rd, Snowbird Rd, Bongers Rd, McIntosh Rd, Seeley Rd and Markell Rd.

“The amount is broken down into $687,000 ($229,000 per year) for the first top up and then there is a contingency amount of $171,750 ($57,250 per year) for a mid-year top up, depending on the severity of the winter,” said Patrick Seguin, the city’s director of Public Works and Engineering.
“There were two submissions, Miller Paving and (Timmins-based) Custom Concrete ($1,900,000, plus HST) and Miller had the lowest bid.”
The written report that accompanied Seguin’s presentation indicates Public Works tendered for the three-year supply and delivery of winter sand in order to secure longer-term pricing.

Council awarded a contract to New Liskeard-based Miller Paving Limited for work on a number of city streets during its April 6 meeting.
The deal is worth $1,197,933.75, plus HST, with the Miller Paving Limited submission being the lone response to the tender.
