With public comment having been closed at the board’s March meeting, discussion was limited at the April 6 meeting to board members.

The board continued the public hearing to its March 2 meeting to give it time get a second review of the drainage plan and also to request a legal opinion regarding its powers. About 30 residents attended the public hearing. The dozen that spoke expressed concerns about the project’s density in a historic area, the effect of additional traffic, and the impact storm water runoff would make on neighboring properties, particularly the Milford Cemetery. The 1-acre property is at 67 Prospect St.

The hearing was originally scheduled for the board’s Feb. 2 meeting. The board voted unanimously on July 19 to have a public hearing on the proposal, which includes restoring the historic 1835 David L. Baldwin house on the property and converting it for use into an office and fitness center, and constructing a three-story building behind the house for the apartments.
