NEW BRUNSWICK – Piscataway Township Councilwoman Chanelle Scott McCullum has been sworn into the seat on the Middlesex County Board of Commissioners vacated by last month s death of Deputy Director Kenneth Armwood.
McCullum, the daughter of Middlesex County Sheriff Mildred S. Scott, was sworn into office on Wednesday. The remaining year of Armwood’s term will be filled in the Nov. 2 general election.
McCullum is only the second Black woman to serve on the county s Board of Commissioners. The first was her mother, who left the board to serve as sheriff and was replaced by Armwood. I am proud to join the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners,” McCullum said. “I am especially honored to have the opportunity to carry on the work of Ken Armwood, a dear friend and colleague.
