There is a growing interest in vertical farming in Canada. While vertical farming technologies are still relatively new, many companies in Ontario and across Canada are using the technology as part of private ventures to grow fresh vegetables and herbs for their local market. Vertical farming can also play a role in food security initiatives by increasing access to healthy, fresh foods.
As part of the planning process, municipalities play a key role in determining how and where production activities occur. By attending this webinar, municipal staff, elected officials, businesses, and community organizers will gain an understanding of key aspects of vertical farming, including:
PERRY â Spending 20 years in China, Perry native Mike Bellamy spent time collecting antique Chinese furniture which he is now showcasing at the Arts Council for Wyoming County.
The pieces being shown are from the Qing Dynasty, which lasted between 1644 to 1912. It was a period of Chinese history noted for its initial prosperity and chaotic final years. It was also the second time that China was not ruled by the Han people.
The pieces are featured in âFortunes & Forgeries: A Perry Nativeâs Adventure Collecting Qing Dynasty Furniture & Art in Asia,â an exhibition opening Friday at the Arts Council for Wyoming County, 31 South Main St.
