Purdue trustees ratify faculty positions, approve new degree programs, award posthumous degree, honor friends of the university

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The Purdue University Board of Trustees on Friday (Feb. 5) ratified two faculty positions, approved three new degree programs and awarded a posthumous bachelor’s degree. Trustees also issued resolutions of appreciation for friends of the university.
The ratified faculty positions are Barry Pittendrigh as the John V. Osmun Chair in Urban Entomology and Margo Monteith as a Distinguished Professor of Psychological Sciences, both on the West Lafayette campus.

Margo J. Monteith, professor of psychological sciences, has been appointed as associate dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in Purdue University’s College of Health and Human Sciences (HHS), effective January 1, 2021. In this role, Dr. Monteith will develop and lead college-wide DEI initiatives, serve as the HHS liaison to DEI-focused committees and groups on campus, continue to lead the HHS DEI Committee, and collaborate with HHS unit heads and directors to successfully advance DEI programming and initiatives at all levels of our college.
Prior to her arrival at Purdue in 2006, Monteith was a faculty member at University of Kentucky (1994-2006) and at Texas Tech University (1992-1994). She has served in various administrative roles in PSY (e.g., director of diversity, equity and inclusion, director of graduate studies), on various college committees (e.g., the Graduate Education Policy and Curriculum Committee), and in various university div
