GRAND RAPIDS, MI A 42-year-old man who staged a 5K run, promising runners they would get a margarita at the finish, entered a plea Wednesday for violating liquor licensing rules.
Aaron Quincy Scott, of California, enter a no contest plea to alcohol-furnishing a place for consideration. The charge carries a potential one-year jail term.
The only problem, police said, is that the state Liquor Control Commission had denied a license to the event.
Grand Rapids police were aware of the denial and sent plainclothes officers to look around. They called in uniformed officers after alcohol was being served and no one checked identification.
