Zillow Group Inc. informed the state of Texas earlier this month that it will lay off a total of 55 workers at its facility in Coppell, Texas, as it winds down its Zillow Offers ibuying business. In a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice filed with the Texas Workforce Commission on June 17, Michelle Hamm, manager of people operations for Zillow Group, states that the layoffs began with 32 job cuts on Jan. 3, 2022, and will be conducted in steps through Aug. 19, when the last employee will be let go.

KINGSTON – The weight has lifted off Michelle Hamm’s shoulders, although the Jones River Tavern owner knows full well there are still challenges ahead.
Known for its signature BBQ, Jones River Tavern opened Dec. 1, 2017, at 6 Pembroke St. with Hamm and Peter Beard as two of the original business partners.
They were thriving before the coronavirus pandemic changed business as they knew it. The weight lifted when Hamm learned that the state was granting her request for $60,000 through the COVID-19 Small Business Grant Program.
“Like everybody else, I’ve been doing the best that I can,” she said. “I asked for what I needed to survive.”
