The Maine Maritime Museum is home to the historic Percy & Small wooden shipyard and is a spot where you can watch traditional skills demonstrations and see exhibits, including A Sailor’s Treasure: Sea Chests & Curiosities and Sidney Chase’s “Eye.” Seafaring history is a rich one and the museum has a 20-acre waterfront campus bursting with it. Sail on in between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday for Community Day with free admission.

Find a comfortable spot at home and travel with the Strand Theatre to London for a filmed production of the Tony Award-winning musical “Kinky Boots.” The show is based on actual events involving Charlie Price who inherited a show factory from his father and winds up forming an allegiance with cabaret and drag performer Lola to produce some epic, company-saving high-heeled boots. Eighties icon Cyndi Lauper wrote the music and lyrics, and the book is by celebrated playwright and actor Harvey Fierstein. Don’t drag your heels when it comes to grabbing a ticket!
A graveyard sets the scene for new Footlights play about loss and hope

It seems appropriate that on the one-year anniversary of the emergence of COVID-19 in Maine, we would have a play about loss – and hope.
The Footlights Theatre in Falmouth presents “Seasons in the Sun” though March 27. Executive artistic director Michael J. Tobin wrote the play in 2014 after his mother died and he got into the habit of visiting her gravestone. While there, he befriended other people who were visiting the gravestones of their loved ones. “We just started talking about their lives, and developed a friendship,” he said.
