what will dubuque be doing to help young people find jobs? the city has several programs in place. they tell us signing on with this new national program is another way of helping young people here in dubuque to land that ever important first job. you could call it a vicious cycle. or maybe a catch 22. you don t have any experience on your resume and yet employers are looking for that experience if you can t get in the door. either way, it leaves thousands of young adults without a job, year after year. the obama administration says those unemployed people aren t contributing to the tax base and are often depending on government programs, like the affordable care act. the administration describes the first job recruiting and hiring compact as a way to improve the economy. and the anything we can do to help people build those skills. i think it s an important first step to getting people in the door. dubuque already has several programs in place that aim to connect you
