Weve, we were able through the ppp loans to be able to bring our staff back. Unfortunately, when we brought them back, our storeses were under, were still hut down because of the pandemic here in florida. But toward the edge of it we were the end of it we were able to open around the beginning of june or so. Actually not june, i think it was july. Now that i think about it, it was in july we began to open. And we opened all but one of our stores. One of our stores weve closed permanently on miami beach. But were looking forward to finding another space there as well. Host whats it been like to have customers back in the store, mr. Kaplan . Guest you know, for us, its been fairly smooth. Our customers have been all very, very respectful of wearing masks, theres been no hesitation on anybodys part about that. Our staff has been very upbeat. We

My name is greg and i meant the Vice President shoaf manager for book expo america. A manageable familiar tonight. To this very special occasion. He would not be here this evening if it were not for the support and loyalty the bookselling and Publishing Community spring to us each and every year. For the for an eye for that i think you. [applause]. The fabric of our convention lies in the connections we all make with the authors that appear here. Its been over 100 years of memorable moments since the very First Convention but has two guest of honor. Mark twain in 19 oh one. And since in the book industry has continued to come together to house authors have provided us with thoughtprovoking discussion to say nothing of stimulating entertainment. But all i think i can safely say that nothing has approached the magnitude of this evening
It is indeed a real pleasure for me to welcome all of you to Miamidade College and the 26th addition of Miami Book Fair international. This is your official opening for the book fair. Eight consecutive days and the street fair that will take place friday, saturday and sunday of next week. This is without question the finest and largest literary event in america. We are very proud of the college to be able to host these every year, now for 26 years. The community has been so responsive to visitors and residents of the Community Coming together. The book fair has been labeled in many different ways. My two favorite ones, the american author who said miami Fair International is the literary makeup of the western world. The other label is what former First Lady Barbara Bush said about book fair. She said an embarrassment of riches. I love that one. Between now and next sunday, we will have over 350 offers.
