Good morning. This is nbc10 news today. Im Rosemary Connors. Thanks for being with us. Its 5 30 on this saturday. And we have issued a first alert because of the bitter cold weather. Lets start with that first alert neighborhood forecast. We know youve got a lot of plans today. Meteorologist krystal klei is tracking the record low temp chirs for us. Krystal. Yeah, you know, rosemary, part of the reason we have the first alert in place its not necessarily because its shocking for us to have freezing temperatures. We know that happens this time of year, its because just a few days ago we were in the 70s and now were talking temperatures that are in the 20s out there, some of us even the teens. So the entire region through tonight is under a first alert for feels like temperatures that are in the teens and 20s, record cold has already been set this morning. And some areas are seeing that hard freeze when you get temperatures in the ....
Take steps to protect the homeless. Philadelphia and other parts of our area have a code blue in effect today. In philly the Homeless Outreach overnight has brought at least 50 people to warm indoor places. All seemingly back to normal after weather caused some traffic problems. Skyforce 10 was overhead following black ice issue last night. We normally dont see salt trucks until december or january. It was closed for a time but back open this morning. Reviewing the officers body camera. The camera was pointed at the sky and the bad guys image fills the screen. Police are hoping that someone will speak up and identify the guy. Im sure someone out here knows him. We are not asking to you stop him or anything like that. If you know him or someone that clearly resembles him Contact Philadelphia Police at 911 or cant the transit police. Sergeant perone is released from the hospital and recovering from her injuries, the person caught on tape faced a summary charge of trespass and now assaulting a police officer. It is already packing max wind speed of 120 miles an hour, harvey is expected to drop up to 3 feet of rain in some areas and could deliver as much as a 15foot storm surge. Governor of texas has declared a state of disaster for 30 counties in the storm as path, harvey is expect to make land fall late tonight or early tomorrow morning.
