it is my personal honor to join you to commemorate 9/11 from our police, fire, paramedics, volunteers coming to grips citizens of san francisco. a decade after the terrorist attacks that occurred on september 11, we continue the struggle to make sense of the terrible events of that day. san francisco is more than 3,000 miles away from the attacks. we felt the devastation and loss keenly here in the city. we will continue to remember and honor those who perished. it is important to me and the people of san francisco that we remember and honor the fallen, including hometown heroes like betty and mark. betty s phone call was the first indication that america was under attack. she relayed vital information to the ground crew. mark wrestled with control of flight 93 rather than allow hijackers to fulfill their mission. 10 years ago, we also learned about the final moments of san francisco resident melissa s hughes who was a victim of terrorism in the towers. to read about her fina

5:00 this evening. the fire is burning near robert louis stevenson state park. the fire consumed about a dozen acres by night fall. the highway patrol reopened highway 29 between napa and lake counties. firefighters say they claimed to remain on the front lines overnight to keep the flames from spreading. right now, that fire is about 40% contained. so far, there is no indication of just how it started but, again, cal fire says it has stopped thefire s forward spread. ktvu s meteorologist bill martin is in now to show us how the weather is helping the firefight reporter: the weather is everything. here we are in august. you would think a fire like this would be a huge, huge deal but look at the current conditions at the fire right now. we rarely see something like this. the winds are just 10 miles per hour. look at the temperatures, 53 degrees, the humidity at 83% may be double or triple what it could be. so firefighters are getting a huge break with the high humidity. th

burglary, uncovered a pot growing operation. this is a frustrating investigation for police. reporter: police are frustrating because this is the second time that they have made the same find. this is on 12th avenue and 12th street. a burglary call came in after midnight. this is where police found a marijuana equipment plant. authority recovered two large garbage bags full of marijuana and took two suspects into custody. the first was trying to jump a fence when they and helped him. the second was jumping on nearby roof tops trying to get away. a police dog attacked the suspect, biting him three times. he was treated here at the hospital. they said, what are you doing? i m talking to my girl and that s all that happened. reporter: again, police came here two years ago after a report of a disturbance at the same location. they they took two men into custody and suspicion of burglary and found four rooms full of plant. the men were allegedly trying to steal them. officer
