Medical school applications have soared in Connecticut this past year. It’s not just the ‘Fauci effect.’ Eliza Fawcett, Hartford Courant © Brad Horrigan/The Hartford Courant UConn undergraduate senior Sandhya Sanapala will be attending UConn School of Medicine in the fall. As the COVID-19 pandemic raged across the United States, many aspiring young doctors decided to take the plunge and apply to medical school. Many, many more than usual. The UConn School of Medicine in Farmington had 26% more applicants this past cycle than the year before an additional 1,000 students jockeying for a small number of spots. The Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University in North Haven saw a 28% increase in applicants. And at the Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, there was a 33% jump.
