The Municipal Corporation of Delhi House passed a budget of Rs 16,683 crore for the 2024-25 financial year without a vote amid accusations of corruption against the mayor. The budget estimates for 2023-24 and 2024-25 were also approved. The House could only function for five minutes as the budget was read amidst shouts of accusations. The total income for the fiscal year was approved at Rs 15,686.99 crore with an expenditure of Rs 16,683.01.
The House session witnessed disruptions from the opposition BJP councillors, with Mayor Shelly Oberoi passing the budget in the absence of MCD Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti.
