The state Commission on Water Resource Management held a marathon meeting on Maui Tuesday, lasting nearly nine hours. Members received testimony and updated the public on the Lahaina Aquifer Sector Area including wells in the fire-impacted area, water resources at Kauaʻula and Interim Instream Flow Standards (IIFS) for area waterways.
During their Maui visit, the lawmakers viewed the ruins of Lahaina from the air and from the ground, and also met with fire victims, first responders and those working with relief and recovery agencies. T
A pilot from Denver was about to leave Maui when fires spread violently. Little did he know, he would end up flying over 300 passengers, whose flight would have otherwise been cancelled.
It was all hands on deck Tuesday as volunteers from the grassroots organization Hungry Heroes Hawaii loaded mounds of food, water and supplies for communities impacted by the deadly Maui wildfires. CBS13's Jordan Segundo was on Maui and joined the group of volunteers.
