The property owners of 1071 N. Ocean Boulevard have been given an additional 60 days to obtain a permit for a 5-foot beach access gate installed illegally last year.
The Code Enforcement Board voted April 15 to give, Reiwa LLC additional time to notarize the signatures of all nearby owners on Orange Grove Road who had already signed agreeing to the gate.
Records show the owner was first contacted by the police department about the gate on Aug. 4 and told to obtain all necessary permits by Aug. 18, which the owner did not do.
But, Zoning Manager Paul Castro said, the issue isn’t just the signatures. A restrictive covenant recorded in two property deeds from 1941 would have to be amended for a gate to be allowed in the walkway, he said.
