EDMONTON, AB - Carter Savoie isn t scoring literally every night like he did for the first five games of his NCAA career, but he s still among the top freshmen in the NCAA.
The Oilers 2020 fourth-round (100th overall) draft pick tallied his ninth of the season on Saturday as his University of Denver Pioneers beat the University of Nebraska Omaha Mavericks 4-1.
The 19-year-old from St. Albert is tied for the National Collegiate Hockey Conference lead in goals among freshmen with Veeti Miettinen of the St. Cloud State University Huskies. Matthew Kopperud of the Arizona State University Sun Devils leads all NCAA rookies with 12 goals.

After having their initial season-opening series against the Dallas Stars postponed, the Florida Panthers are now preparing to kick off their 2020-21 campaign on Sunday against the Chicago Blackhawks at BB&T Center in Sunrise - the first real game played at the arena since March 7.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 18 Ohio State men’s hockey team closed out the 2020 portion of its schedule with a 3-2 loss to Arizona State Friday in Value City Arena. Ohio State falls to 3-6-1 (3-5-0-0-1-0 B1G) and the Sun Devils improve to 4-6-2.
The Big Ten released the 2021 men’s hockey slate today and the Buckeyes will return to action Jan. 8-9, 2021 when they host Penn State in Value City Arena. The full schedule is HERE.

The Buckeyes led 1-0 after the first period on a Layton Ahac power play goal. The Sun Devils tied the game at 11:33 of the second with a power play score but Ohio State’s Matt Cassidy answered just 50 seconds later to put the Buckeyes back ahead. Arizona State scored twice in the final five minutes of the period, with an even strength goal at 15:46 and power play tally on a major at 19:48 to tie the game and take the lead.
