Gov. Maura Healey has turned to 76 hotels and motels to bulk up the number of beds available under the state’s emergency shelter program. Dozens of contracts with social service organizations show nights at those sites can often run up to $300, a cost that includes food and supportive services.
The first-term party boss faced some opposition in the first meeting of the newly elected committee, but at the end was ratified to continue at her job by a vote of 47 – 25.
The MassGOP called for an investigation into a no-bid contract to provide food at shelters that has since expired but was awarded to a company whose employees donated to Gov. Maura Healey.
