Enfield leaders continue to grapple with the uncertain future of the town’s sprawling mall property, just as a promising new vision for the vacant MassMutual campus has shed light on the town’s broader economic development aspirations.
LEGO leases a little more than half of a 550,555-square-foot property at 100 Print Shop Road in Enfield, which is owned by Winstanley Enterprises.
Adam Winstanley, a principal of Massachusetts-based Winstanley Enterprises, said LEGO’s move shouldn’t come as much of a shock.
“LEGO has been winding down operations for a long time in Enfield,” Winstanley said, adding he doesn’t expect the vacancy created by the toymaker’s exit to remain for long.
LEGO said it plans to relocate 740 employees from its Enfield headquarters to Boston by 2026.
In Enfield, representatives of Massachusetts-based Winstanley Enterprises met with locals months ahead of submitting plans for an 817,000-square-foot distribution center.
The company said it cut the proposed size of the building planned for 35 Bacon Road by about one-fourth, pledged to donate 22 acres to open space, planned dark sky-compliant lighting and heavily-landscaped buffers.

Winstanley Enterprises LLC recently leased 238,830 square feet of warehouse space at its North Maple Street facility in Enfield to Eppendorf North America Inc., a life-science company that develops and sells instruments and services for cell handling in laboratories.
Winstanley Enterprises expects to complete construction of its facility at 113 North Maple St. by this fall.
Agri-Mark, a Massachusetts-based company that distributes a wide variety of dairy products throughout the U.S., will lease a 260,500-square-foot space in the northern portion of the building.
