Defence Force troops return home from St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Port of Spain: Fifty (50) members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) returned to Trinidad and Tobago today, Saturday May 01, 2021 after being deployed on Tuesday April 13, 2021 to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines following the eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano.
Some of TTDF troops arrived at the Inter-Island Ferry Terminal in Port of Spain on board the Galleons Passage at approximately 12:00 noon and were welcomed home by Minister of National Security the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds M.P. and Chief of Defence Staff Air Vice Marshall Darryl Daniel. The other troops arrived at Staubles Bay, Chaguaramas, aboard the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard vessel the TTS Brighton.

A group of 50 members of the Defence Force who went to aid the people of St Vincent after the La Soufriere volcano erupted returned home on Saturday.
Some members of the team returned on the Galleons Passage along with other nationals who were stranded on the island, a release from the National Security Ministry said.
Minister of National Security presents historic Instruments of Promotion and Appointment of Vice Chief of Defence Staff
Port of Spain: Minister of National Security the Honourable Stuart R. Young M.P. presided over a historic ceremony today as two members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF), serving in leadership roles, received letters of promotion in ranks after being promoted by President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes O.R.T.T.
Receiving his Instrument of Promotion today was Chief of Defence Staff Air Vice Marshall Darryl Daniel who was promoted from the rank of Air Commodore, effective November 01, 2020. He becomes this country’s first Air Vice Marshall.

The two most senior officers of the Defence Force have been promoted by President Paula-Mae Weekes.
A statement from the Ministry of National Security said Chief of Defence Staff Darryl Daniel has been promoted to Air Vice Marshall and the commanding officer of the regiment Dexter Francis was promoted to Brigadier General and appointed as the Vice Chief of Defence Staff.
