Pollstar | Australia News: Australia, NZ Open Borders, Trademarks, MFTHF, Pill Testing

By: Christie Eliezer CubaDupa Street FestivalBorders Opening For Australian & New Zealand Acts After being forced to play their own backyards over a year, Australian and New Zealand acts can now journey across the Tasman Sea to play.  Both governments lift border restrictions April 19. Not having to be in two-week quarantine in a hotel will save a six-piece indie band NZ$18,000 ($12,657) – something most would not be able to recoup from touring. Promoters and venues agree that after enthusiastically supporting local acts only, an element of fatigue is creeping in. “At this point, audiences do want some variety,” Live Nation NZ managing director Mark Kneebone told Stuff. “And while New Zealand acts will continue to perform and do really well, the chance to bring over Australian acts and bands is great for the industry.”

New Zealand, get set to go inside Vincent van Gogh's mind and life

Digital Nights, which ran in August among shipping containers at Odlins Plaza, Van Gogh Alive – the most-visited multi-sensory exhibition in the world – is meant to be experienced indoors. The exhibition combines giant projections of van Gogh’s works with music, three-dimensional models, and almond blossom scent (in a nod to his group of paintings of the same name) to immerse audiences deep in the mind and life of the artist. “It’s about taking people’s breath away, as well as educating and inspiring . It’s that sense of wonder that will translate from age 3 through to 93,” Kneebone said. MONIQUE FORD/Stuff
