nbc bay area s bob redell stuck in the traffic backup that s happening there. bob, we re get something reports there of explosions? reporter: that backup extends from the bridge a good mile or two north to spencer avenue where a goodwill truck went over an embankment around 8:00 or 8:30 and as you can see in this video posted to twitter caught fire. the driver of the big rig was able to escape his cab unharmed. he grabbed a fire extinguisher but was not able to put out that fire as you can see. the cab burned up. the rest of the truck is fine as far as it was burnt up but it s damaged from the crash. and the driver s okay. chp tells me they believe the driver was speeding when he lost control on these wet roads a little bit after 8:30 this morning. all northbound lanes of 101 were shut down at one point at spencer avenue but now the number one lane, that s the far left lane, is open. the traffic is a crawl. the estimated time of getting that big rig back upright and out of
