Bingo after lockdown is 'like a dream come true'

BBC News By Chris Buckler The extra excitement inside the bingo hall isn t due to any big jackpot. Many in this club are simply relieved that they finally have the chance to catch up on several months of gossip. During the coronavirus lockdowns they weren t able to gather together, never mind play the game. But after an easing in restrictions, bingo is back. Once again at Jackpot Bingo in west Belfast eyes are down and spirits are up. It was like a dream come true, says Sharon Lindsay, one of the more dedicated players. I couldn t wait until 6pm when the doors opened, even though the bingo doesn t start until 8pm.

6 Md. jurisdictions sued over vaccine eligibility for people with disabilities

By: Johanna Alonso Daily Record business reporter March 9, 2021 The Arc Maryland has filed a lawsuit against six jurisdictions it claims barred people with disabilities from accessing the COVID-19 vaccine. (The Daily Record/File Photo) A nonprofit organization that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Maryland has filed a lawsuit against six jurisdictions it claims barred people with these disabilities from accessing the COVID-19 vaccine.  The lawsuit claims that these six jurisdictions Carroll, Garrett, Queen Anne’s, Somerset and Talbot counties, as well as the city of Baltimore failed to list people with intellectual and developmental disabilities as members of priority group 1B on their websites and, in doing so, violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Health unions threatening to strike after pay rise 'insult'

Health unions threatening to strike after pay rise ‘insult’ Posted: 6:38 pm March 10, 2021 By Jodie Curran HEALTH workers in Fermanagh have described a proposal that would give NHS workers a pay rise of just one percent as an “insult.” With unions now threatening strike action after voicing their “disgust” at the plan, fears have emerged that the proposal could lead to local workers quitting their jobs which would add further pressure to staffing levels at SWAH. “The RCN has been clear that this year, of all years, we need a significant and fair pay rise. An additional £3.50 a week for an experienced nurse is by no means fair and will do nothing to prevent an exodus from the profession,” warned SWAH RCN representative Kathryn Gault.
