PRRD board directors discussed the proposed legislation at their October 5, 2023 board meeting and agreed that three months isn’t sufficient time to get a solid understanding of the act, nor is it enough time to consult their respective communities and constituents.
The Peace River Regional District says they feel the provincial government’s plan to modernize the Emergency Program Act is too open-ended for local governments to deal with - nor have they been left with enough time to consult their communities.
