Follow the science is probably the leading mantra we’ve heard when it comes to trying to return to normal life in our year-long battle with COVID-19. Well, the science of when to reopen schools took a big turn in the Philadelphia suburbs this week around a public health proclamation on the three-foot rule.
Chester County Health Department Director Jeanne Franklin, whose office is also leading Delaware County s COVID-19 response, stated that, because of the mitigation measures, area schools using three-foot distancing is acceptable in schools even when community COVID-19 levels are very high. She joined Dr. David Damsker, the Bucks County Public Health director, in setting this standard. ....
